Once again I had the privilege of being one of the official race photographers of the
world’s most beautiful marathon, the Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon
2015 which was another huge success. Approximately 11 000 runners
took part in the 56 km Ultra Marathon event, a far cry from the original 27
pioneering runners that participated in the very first Two Oceans Marathon run in
1970. Due to the devastating fires that happened last month the 56 km
race was rerouted over Ou Kaapse Weg. Over and above the 11 000
runners that took part in the 56 km Ultra Marathon another 16000 participated in
the Old Mutual Two Oceans Half Marathon as well as the Trail Runs and various Fun Runs.

The first image of this blog I photographed in 1981 of two of our greatest runners, Vincent Gabashane Rakabaele and Johnny Halberstadt racing each other in the 1981 Two Oceans. Johnny won in a time 3:05:37. Vincent ran a close second in a time of 3:09:17. Vincent Rakabaele was also the first person of colour to win this race in 1976.
Enjoy the images attached to this blog of this years race.
Your feedback at the bottom of the page will be appreciated, thank you.
