On Saturday afternoon my son asked me if he could go highlining at Chapmans Peak with some friends. I had never heard of the word before but knew that it was not what most people do for fun. After making a few enquiries to see that the necessary safety precautions were in place I agreed and went along to make sure all was above board!
The span of the line was about 20 metres with a vertical drop of at least 100metres with the most spectacular views. There were a group of about six people that took turns on walking the line, all secured with a safety line. I must say very impressive, most of the people were darn good at walking the line. There were a few tumbles but thanks to the safety line they are all still with us today.
My son Jonathan with his friend Ben will be going to climb Mt Kilimanjaro in September. Jonathan will then ride a unicycle down the mountain to raise funds for a educational charity, well that’s the plan. Have a look at their Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/kilimanjaro2by1?ref=hl and web site https://www.backabuddy.co.za/champion/project/jonathan-and-bens-uni-cycle-kilimanjaro-challenge-. Jonathan was wearing clothing sponsored by Quiver for his Kilimanjaro trip while highlining, great quality.
